Weinschel Programmable Attenuators

Weinschel Programmable Attenuators
Before wireless technology reaches your home, office space or any other place where you are connected to the rest of the world, it undergoes a process of design, testing and validation because companies are pushing technology to get everyone the best possible user experience.

Due to the fact that the time between product launches gets shorter, companies need to improve their time-to-market often putting pressure on engineering teams. On the flipside they need to be cost aware because of the price sensitivity of the market.

Weinschel by Spectrum Control (formerly known as APItech) has a wide portfolio of test systems for all relevant wireless network technologies (including 5G and WiFi6E) that allows for fast and on-budget roll-outs of your products, links and services without having to compensate in terms of quality or specifications.

Programmable attenuators are often used in a test setup to simulate transmission loss or create scenarios for signal fading and handovers. The fact that they are programmable makes them suitable for automation of your test setup. Weinschel offers a wide scale of progammable attenuators with high attenuation ranges and low step resolutions which allows engineers to carefully characterize the behavior of their networks and devices.

Solid-State Programmable Attenuators (4204, 4205, 4209, 4226, 4228, 4238, 4246, 4248, 4400 Series)
Weinschel solid-state programmable attenuators suited for benchtop systems and systems integration. The advantage over their electromechanical counterparts is that they offer faster switching, require less power and last much longer.

  • Available in frequencies ranging from 300 kHz to 40 GHz
  • Attenuation range up to 127 dB
  • Step size as fine as 0.25 dB
  • USB, Parallel, I2C,  UART and SPI control interfaces
  • Available in single and 4-channel modules
Electromechanical Programmable Attenuators (150, 151, 152, 3200, 3400, 3456 Series)
Weinschel electromechanical programmable attenuators typically have better insertion loss, linearity and VSWR performance in comparison to solid-state alternatives. Furthermore, they can manage signals down to true DC signals instead of RF only.

  • Available in frequencies ranging from DC to 26,5 GHz
  • Attenuation range up to 127 dB
  • Step size as fine as 0.1 dB
  • +24V, +12V, +5V, TTL, I2C control interfaces
Multi-Channel Programmable Attenuators (8320, 8321, 8331, 8334, 8343, 8351 Series)
The multi-channel programmable attenuators of Weinschel are the go-to choice for bench test or automated test equipment applications for high-speed, synchronous, attenuation control across multiple channels.

  • Simultaneous control over up to 16 channels
  • Wide range of attenuator models to choose from
  • Power handling up to 400W
  • Half rack and full rack form factors

There is a lot to choose from, but sometimes it is hard to find a standard solution fits your applications perfectly. Heynen and Weinschel invite those engineers to send a message. We are happy to acommodate special requests so do not hesitate to reach out to your local Heynen contact.
