Because of decentralization of the energy grid, it becomes increasingly difficult. Energy companies rely on huge amounts of data to know when to generate, where to distribute and how to store energy and so achieve higher levels of efficiency. This data needs to be transferred in a secure and reliable manner. NetModule will help you make that happen.
 
The smart grid is a data network that coordinates the generation, distribution and storage of energy. It is becoming more of interest since the amount of locations where energy is harvested grows - and they all need to be integrated.
 
The Industrial IoT Routers from NetModule perfectly equipped for this job by placing modern connectivity technologies such as fiber optic, WiFi, VPN and IPSec in a single box that can operate over a wide temperature range and in other harsh environments. It also can pre-process data though edge computing and communicate with other devices using RS-232, RS-485, Modbus and digital I/O protocols.
 
The solutions also integrate well with smart meters or a smart meter gateway since in most cases the connectivity to smart meters is a requirement to make the smart grid work. Furthermore, the automation of substations let users monitor the activity in real time. This is special interest in remote areas where realiability is of major importance.
