Knowles DLI V-Series Single Layer Capacitors

Knowles DLI V-Series Single Layer Capacitors
Whenever the DC line is not properly decoupled or filtered, RF signals are given the chance to inject RF power into other parts of the system where you do not want them to be. This often leads to serious performance degradation. That is why capacitors are a fundamental building block in RF- and Microwave systems. In good shape they block DC current and let AC current pass. This is why they are often used to create filters, protect from DC and create bypass networks.

For those purposes (and others) Knowles Precision Devices launched the V-Series Single Layer Capacitors under the DLI brand for superior broadband rejection in a significantly reduced footprint (just 30 mil x 30 mil). Only recently they extended the range with a 100 nF capacitor, making them ideal for those applications where high microwave performance on a small footprint is critical.

One of the key features of the capacitance density, which means that a high capacitance can be offered on a smaller footprint. This might enable design engineers to lower the part count on their Bill-of-Materials (BOM).

The fact that the V-series of DLI typically doubles the rejections performance compared to competitor alternatives is proof of their excellent high frequency response. All capacitors are built to provide a minimum of 27 dB rejection to 40 GHz.

Furthermore, the 100nF comes with class II X7R dielectric material for outstanding temperature stability and the best possible moisture sensitivity level (MSL-1). It can be attached using conductive epoxy or be AuSn solder mounted.

Features
  • Highest capacitance in the smallest footprint
  • Introducing V80, 0408 case size, 100 nF
  • X7R characteristics
  • Wire-bondable
  • RoHS compliant
  • Excellent high frequency response

The Single Layer Capacitors (SLC) of Knowles Precision Devices serve applications such as general DC blocking, low-noise amplifiers, power amplifiers, oscillators, and filter. They can cover a range from microwave frequencies up to 100 GHz.
