Prax High-Frequency Magnetics for DC/DC Converters in BESS

The future of large-scale energy storage is happening now.
Redox Flow Batteries are emerging as a key technology for grid-scale storage by offering long life, scalable capacity and stable cycling performance.
Prax developed a new high-frequency magnetic solution specifically for the next generation of DC/DC converters in BESS.
It’s designed to support demanding topologies like DAB, while meeting the electrical and thermal challenges presented.
Market trends
Redox flow batteries are becoming a strong alternative for large-scale energy storage. They allow to independently scale energy and power capacity, while offering long operational life and high cycle stability with minimal degradation.
Connection is made by bidirectional DC/DC converters used to manage the controlled charge and discharge through the DC bus. These converters require specific magnetic components to ensure efficient, reliable, and long-lasting operation.
