Capture excess energy and return it to the grid with up to 96% efficiency

Grid Feedback, also known as 'Rückspeisung', is a technology that efficiently returns excess energy absorbed by electronic DC loads back to the power grid. This process minimises energy waste and increases the overall efficiency of test and measurement setups.

How Electronic Loads with Grid Feedback Work

Traditional electronic loads convert excess energy into heat, leading to energy waste and additional cooling requirements. In contrast, electronic loads with grid feedback functionality, such as the EA-ELR series from Elektro Automatik, capture excess energy and return it to the grid with an efficiency of up to 96%.

Benefits of Grid Feedback

  • Energy Efficiency: Instead of wasting energy as heat, power is fed back into the grid, significantly reducing energy consumption.
  • Cost Savings: Lower energy waste results in reduced electricity costs and minimises the need for extensive cooling systems.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Feeding energy back into the grid contributes to sustainability and reduces the carbon footprint of test laboratories and industrial processes. This is becoming increasingly important for compliance with environmental standards.

Applications of Electronic Loads with Grid Feedback

This technology is particularly beneficial for applications where energy efficiency and precise control are essential, such as:

  • Battery Testing Systems: During battery discharge tests, recovered energy can be fed back into the grid, saving energy and improving testing efficiency.
  • Fuel Cell Testing: When testing fuel cells, the generated energy can be effectively returned to the grid, reducing overall testing costs.
  • Renewable Energy: Systems that test renewable energy sources, such as solar or wind power, can return generated energy to the grid, supporting sustainable energy management.

Elektro Automatik’s Grid Feedback Solutions

Elektro Automatik offers a range of advanced electronic DC loads with grid feedback functionality, including:

  • EA-ELR 9000 Series: This series provides new voltage, current, and power levels for various applications, featuring four common operating modes: constant current, power, voltage, and resistance.
  • EA-ELR 10000 4U Series: These programmable electronic DC loads, available in a 19” 4U rack-mount format, feature a Gorilla Glass TFT touchscreen, versatile function generator, and user profiles. They offer input voltages from 0-60V to 0-2000VDC, input currents from 0-40A to 0-1000A, and power ratings up to 30kW.

By integrating these advanced solutions, you can optimise your testing processes, save energy, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
