M12 connectors have become– besides the variants with A and B coding – even for the Ethernet in their D-coded variants an indispensable part for the everyday use in industry. They are well accepted particularly in harsh industrial environments due to their special features such as solidity, high protection class IP67 and vibration resistance.

METZ CONNECT has presented at the electronica 2010 M12 connectors for Industrial Ethernet with D-coded two pair variants (IEC 61067-2-101) for 10/100 Mbit as well as X-coded four pair variants for 10 Gbit (IEC 61076-2-109) providing excellent transmission features in addition to their solidity.

The D-coded two pair M12 plugs and jacks are provided with an optimized HF-design and a 360 degrees shielding and thus offer excellent signal reserves and superior EMI features. This ensures safe data transmission even in electromagnetically charged environments allowing longer line lengths with unchanged data rates.

Everywhere where higher data rates are required and the well-tried M12 connection system should not be abandoned for the Ethernet the use of X-coded four pair connectors for data rates up to 10 Gbit/s would be convenient. The outstanding shield concept combined with an optimized design for such data rates provide safe and trouble-free transmission – of course with protection class IP67 even under such high requirements.

This concept offers a future-proof solution for applications such as high resolution cameras, I/O modules, switches or the connection of real time capable controls.
