IP-based production timers - a truly networked solution.

IP-based production timers - a truly networked solution.

For many years, the standard broadcast industry production timer was the Leitch (later Harris) UDT5700 desktop unit or the 19" rack-mount UDT5701.

The IDS Production Timer forms part of our centralised IP-based information and control system. It provides users with a familiar interface including all the traditional Up, Down and To functionality, enhanced by a progression of displays to make the operation more intuitive. It does all of this using a single ergonomic desktop touchscreen, which not only reduces the footprint on technical desks and stacks, but also lowers the whole of life cost by reducing the number of separate systems that need to be purchased and maintained.

By implementing a touchscreen instead of separate controller hardware, operating an IDS Production Timer is faster and more intuitive than other designs. The system guides users through timer operations by highlighting the specific controls required for each stage.

IDS Production Timers can be configured with:

•Up to 4 independent timers

•A choice of 'Count Up', 'Count Down' and 'Count To' for each timer

•20 user presets per timer

• Local preset recall or via external GPI triggers

•Ability to add/subtract time to existing/running times

•Networked distribution of timer output for display at multiple locations

Being part of the IDS network solution means that timer information can be displayed on any device across multiple VLANs, with each location having its own unique screen layout if required. Furthermore, the touchscreen can be used to control CCTV cameras, DMX lighting, TVs and STB (via IR bug), video and audio routers, and display clocks and signal lights. There is even an option to connect existing UDT units into the system using our SQ-DTC interface.

IDS Core

At the heart of IDS is our IP-based configuration software. IDS Core was specifically designed for broadcast and is flexible, scalable and updatable. Configuration and workflow changes are simple and intuitive and once set up, the system can run without requiring a server. Although IDS Core is usually supplied with a server device, we also have an easy to install software-only option available.
