Choose Vectron in LoRa Applications and Designs

When designing or building your LoRa applications, you can choose to implement standard chipsets available in the market. However, there are numerous reasons why you would want to build your own custom design, and/or deviate from standard chipsets. Vectron already has many satisfied customers who successfully implement combinations of Vectron components in their LoRa designs.

With 'Long Range Low Power' or LoRa, all sorts of devices can communicate over the internet whithout needing Wi-Fi or cellular networks to do so. It's a new protocol acting as a WAN. A private and spread-spectrum modulation technique which allows sending data at extremely low data-rates to extremely long ranges. This low data-rate (down to few bytes per second) and LoRa modulation, lead to very low receiver sensitivity (down to -134 dBm). Additionally these low transmission and receiving powers, lead to ultra low battery usage.

LoRa is divided into gateways (Basestations if you like) and sensors. The gateways often have a 32MHz TCXO, and a XO. There is also a requirement for filters. Vectron has great success with crossing the TCXO VT-803-EFE-287A-32M0000000 or VT-820-EFE-2060-32M0000000 in combination with filter TFS 922A. Also the VT-860 TCXO's look great as a small form factor option.
The End node, or Sensor Node, is the item that is being sensed for data (such as the meter reader). This Transceiver module requires a crystal. Vectron's VXM8-1069-32M000 or VXM7-1345-32M000 perfectly fit in this design. The larger form factor is most cost efficient when size/space is not an issue.

The VT-860 Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator is housed in a small form factor 2.0mm x 1.6mm x 0.7mm package. This TCXO produces a stability of +/-0.5ppm across the industrial temperature range of -40oC to 85oC and offers a frequency range of 13MHz to 52MHz. Tight stability TCXOs are a core component in enabling precision location services. The VT-860 delivers high stability in a compact low power design, making it ideal for a wide range of  GNSS applications.
